In addition to the functions, duties and powers mentioned elsewhere in this Act, other functions, duties and powers of the Commission shall be as follows:-
(a)   To lay down the national policy to be adopted in the field of medical education,
(B) To determine the policies and standards related to the standards and standards of all levels and categories of medical education at the federal and state levels. (c)   To determine the policy and criteria for the conduct of the Integrated Entrance Examination (Common Entrance),
(d) To determine the policy, basis and criteria for accreditation (e) Determining policies related to academic advancement and research (f)   To instruct universities, institutes and councils as necessary on the subject of medical education¸
(g)     To approve the basis of accreditation for the National Board of Medical Specialties,
(h)     To prescribe policies and standards regarding letters of intent, affiliation and termination of affiliation,
(i)   To award degrees to doctors who pass the examination conducted by the National Board of Medical Specialties,
(j) To approve the Commission's annual budget and the necessary staff positions for the Commission,
(k) To approve mapping for establishment of educational institutions,
(l) To perform such other functions as may be prescribed.
