In this Act, unless the subject or the context otherwise requires,-
(a)   “Chairman” means the Chairman of the Committee.
(b) "Vacation" means retirement due to age or length of service in accordance with the law relating to the conditions of service of employees and the term also refers to retirement for any reason.
(c)   “Employee” means a Government employee who is affiliated to the Contributory Pension Scheme in accordance with Section 9.
(d) "Office" means an office connected with the Government service in which the employee belonging to the Contributory Pension System is employed.
(e) "Fund" means the pension fund established under section 3.
(f) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(g) "Ministry" means the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal.
(h) "Contributory pension system" means a system in which an amount is deducted from the employee's monthly salary and deposited in a fund and the amount is added to that fund by the Government of Nepal and a pension or amount is provided from the same fund in case of retirement.
(i) "Personal Account" means the Personal Pension Account in the name of the employee in accordance with section 11.
(j) "Member" means a member of the Committee and the term also refers to the Chairman and Member-Secretary.
(k)   “Committee” means the Board of Directors of the Fund under section 6.
(l) "Service" shall mean service in accordance with the prevailing law relating to the service conditions of employees included in the contributory pension system in accordance with this Act.
