Section 11
Disciplinary Committee

(1) If a complaint is made to the Council or information comes to the Council that a legal practitioner has done any work against this Act or the rules or code of conduct made under this Act, the Council may form a disciplinary committee under the chairmanship of one Councilor to investigate the matter and take necessary action. > (2) The court shall have the same authority in relation to issuing summons to the disciplinary committee and hearing witness evidence.
(3) The Disciplinary Committee may give a decision to the legal practitioner found guilty as follows:
(a) Advising,
(b) Disqualification from the practice of law for a specified period, and
(c) Cancellation of legal practitioner's certificate.
(4) During the proceedings as per sub-section (3), the concerned legal practitioner shall be given a reasonable opportunity to submit a clarification.
(5) A legal practitioner who is not satisfied with the decision of the Ungovernance Committee may appeal to the Supreme Court within thirty-five days from the date of receiving the information about the decision.
