Functions, Duties and Powers of the Commission

5. Tasks, Duties and Powers of the Commission

In addition to the tasks, duties and powers written elsewhere in this order, the tasks, duties and powers of the Commission shall be as follows:-

(a) Development possibilities and opportunities of the Far West region. Study and formulate short-term, medium-term and long-term plans, monitor and evaluate,
(b) Building and developing appropriate structures and mechanisms for the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the development plan of the Far West Region,
(c) Formulating, monitoring and evaluating sectoral policies for the overall economic and social development of the Far West Region,
(d) Data collection and processing, study, research or communication about the overall aspects of the economic and social development of the Far West region. (e) Assessing the resources and means needed for the economic development of the Far West Region,
(f) To give suggestions to the Government of Nepal regarding the policies to be adopted for the overall development of the Far West region (g) Formulating a strategy for poverty alleviation in the Far West region and conducting a program to end absolute poverty within a certain period,
(h) To review the implementation and results of various development projects in the far west region and submit a report to the Government of Nepal,
(i) To determine the annual development program, goals and priorities of the Far West region according to the periodical plan of the country,
(j) Determining the budget limit for the annual development program in coordination with various agencies of the Government of Nepal (k) To give consent for the approval of the plans of the Far West region prepared by the regional ministries, secretariats, departments and agencies and to assist in the formulation of regional policies and to give suggestions and directions for implementation,
(l) Assessing and approving development project proposals related to the development of the Far West Region as required.
(d) Instruct the relevant agencies to implement the approved program effectivelyation giver,
(d) Making necessary policies and plans for sustainable and efficient management of natural resources in the Far West region (n) Formulate long-term and short-term plans for the development and mobilization of human resources in the Far West region and include them in regional programs or implement them,
(p) To identify potential national priority areas and projects in the Far West region and implement them in coordination with the National Planning Commission,
(th) To do other work as prescribed by the Government of Nepal from time to time.
