(1) Any person who knows that domestic violence has occurred, is happening or is about to happen, can make a written or oral complaint to the police office or the National Women's Commission or the local level.
(2) If the complaint under sub-section (1) is received in writing, immediately and if it is received orally, the necessary details related to it shall be registered in writing and stamped by the complainant.
(3) Necessary action will be taken in accordance with the prevailing law regarding the National Commission for Women in relation to the complaint registered with the National Commission for Women.
(4) If a complaint is registered at the police office, the police office shall arrest and report the perpetrator immediately within twenty-four hours, excluding the time limit of the journey.
(5) If a complaint is registered at the local level, if the victim is arrested and detained within twenty-four hours, except for the time limit of the journey, he/she shall be arrested with the help of the police and immediately be given a statement.
(6) If it is found that the victim has suffered any physical injury or mental torture due to domestic violence, he/she should be immediately sent to the nearest hospital or health center for treatment and wound examination. A copy of the grass inspection report conducted by the local body should be sent to the police office.
(7) During the initial investigation of the complaint, if it is necessary to provide protection to the victim and his/her dependents, the police office must be assisted to provide immediate protection.
(8) If domestic violence appears to have occurred from the statements made under sub-section (4) or (5) and if the victim so desires, the police office and the local body shall mediate between the two parties within thirty days from the date of the complaint.
(9) When reconciling according to sub-section (8), the assistance of psychiatrists, sociologists, social workers, family members trusted by the victim and other witnesses can be taken as long as they are available according to the need. While reconciling in this way, the psychological and social impact on the victim and the right to privacy should also be taken into consideration.
(10) When the police office or the local level processes and disposes of the complaint, the perpetrator shall be notifiedIt should be kept in line.
(11) If the victim is not present or cannot be made to appear during the investigation according to sub-section (4) or (5) or if reconciliation cannot be reached between the parties, the police office or the local level, with the consent of the complainant, within fifteen days from the date of expiry of the period as per sub-section (8), mention the same behavior and file a complaint. Missile documents and evidence related to that should be sent to the court.
(12) It shall be the duty of the police office to provide assistance in accordance with sub-sections (5) and (7).
