Rule 18
Operation of mining operations

(1) The person who has received the permit for mining shall carry out the operation of mining within six months from the date of obtaining the permit.
(2) If the mining operation is not carried out within the period as per sub-rule (1), the department may cancel the mining permit.
(3) Notwithstanding anything written elsewhere in this rule, if the person who has obtained a permit for mining works, due to special circumstances, has not been able to carry out the mining work within the period specified in sub-rule (1), if he submits an application to the department three months before the expiry of the said period, the application shall be deemed necessary. If the reason is reasonable, the department may allow mining operations to be carried out within six months from the date of expiry of the period based on the type of mineral material, geographical location, mining technology and other matters.
