(1) Every Chief District Officer shall send himself or an assistant under him. Once in 6 months and whenever deemed necessary, the jail under his authority should be inspected.

(2) The chief district officer or assistant who went to check under sub-section (1) should check the following matters – (a) Imprisonment Whether or not the prisoner whose term has expired has been released on the day of expiry. (3) When examining the matter according to sub-section (2), if any action is found to be in violation of the prevailing Nepalese law, in case it is written in section 20, and in case it is not written in that section, action should be taken as prescribed.
