(1) For the purpose of providing care, care and social security to senior citizens, the Government of Nepal shall publish a notice in the Nepal Gazette and constitute a Central Senior Citizens Welfare Committee as follows:
(a) (a) Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens or Minister of State - Chairman
(b) Member, National Planning Commission (Looking after Social Services) – Member
(c) Secretary, Ministry of Finance – Member
(d) Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs – Member
(e) Secretary, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare – Member
(f) Secretary, Ministry of Health and Population – Member
(g) Secretary, Federal Affairs and General Administration. Ministry - Member
(h) Vice President, Social Welfare Council – Member j) ……………..
(j) Member Secretary, Pashupati Regional Development Fund – Member
(k) President, Nepal Physicians Association – Member
(l) President, Nepal Nursing Association – Member
(L1) Chairman, National Federation of Senior Citizens - Member
(D) Two representative members, including one woman, nominated by the Government of Nepal from among the organizations run to protect the interests of senior citizens.
(d) Two members, including one woman, nominated by the Government of Nepal from among the people involved in religious and social activities.
(n) Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare (See concerned Division) – Secretary
(2) According to clauses (d) and (d) of sub-section (1), the term of office of the nominated member shall be three years and he may be re-appointed. However, if he behaves badly or due to his lack of efficiency, the Nepal government can remove him before the completion of his term.
(3) The Secretariat of the Central Senior Citizen Welfare Committee will be done by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare. 4) The procedure related to the meeting of the Central Senior Citizen Welfare Committee will be as prescribed.
(5) Members of the Central Senior Citizens Welfare Committee may receive allowances as prescribed by the Government of Nepal for participating in the meetings of the said committee. 14. Functions, Duties and more of Central Senior Citizens Welfare CommitteeR: The work, duties and powers of the Central Senior Citizens Welfare Committee will be as follows:-
(a) Prepare necessary policies, plans and programs for the protection and social security of senior citizens and submit them to the Government of Nepal.
(B) To implement and monitor policies, plans and programs approved by the Government of Nepal
(c) To keep up-to-date the data and records of senior citizens received from the District Senior Citizens Welfare Committee
(d) Coordinating and monitoring the activities of the District Senior Citizens Welfare Committee, (e) the activities of care centers, day service centers, senior citizens clubs and associations and organizations working on senior citizens that are established and operating throughout the state of Nepal.
