Section 17
Compensation
: (1) The court shall pay compensation to the victim in a way that is not less than fifty percent of the fine imposed on the offender.
(1a) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), if the offender has a low financial status or the victim is unable to receive compensation from the offender for any other reason, the court may order the payment of mental compensation to the victim from the rehabilitation fund in accordance with section 14.
(2) If the victim dies before receiving the amount of compensation as per sub-section (1) or (1A), such amount shall be given to his minor children and if he does not have such children, to his dependent parents.
(3) If there are no minor children or dependent parents of the victim receiving the amount of compensation according to sub-section (2), such amount shall be deposited in the rehabilitation fund according to section 14.
