(1) For the purpose of this Act, based on the nature and importance of minerals, minerals are classified as follows:-
(a) Classification on the basis of nature of mineral substances :
(1) Metallic minerals, and
(2) Non-metallic minerals.
(b) Classification of Minerals on the Basis of Importance :
(1) A very important mineral,
(2) Important and precious minerals, and
(3) General minerals.

(2) The categories mentioned in sub-section (1) shall include the specified minerals.
