(1) A candidate or an election representative or any other person shall not defame or cause any character of a candidate or his family member in any way to influence the outcome of the election.
(2) A person who commits an act contrary to sub-section (1) shall be punished with a fine up to fifty thousand rupees or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with both.
