Section 113
Birth of son, daughter to be registered

(1) If a son or daughter is born to a couple, the mother or father must submit an application for birth registration within three months of the birth of such son or daughter to the authority prescribed by law.
(2) If someone wants to apply for the birth registration of a son or daughter after the deadline as per sub-section (1) has passed, he shall pay a fine as prescribed in the prevailing law.
(3) If an application is received according to sub-section (1) or (2), the concerned officer shall mention the details in the birth registration book kept in his office and give the birth registration certificate to the applicant in the prescribed format according to the law.
(4) When mentioning the details in the registration book as per sub-section (3), the name, surname, date of birth (including year, month, day and night) and place, the name, surname and address of the person concerned should also be mentioned. .
(5) According to sub-section (3), by the end of each month, the concerned officer shall send the details mentioned in the registration book set up in his office to the district administration office within the fifteenth day of the following month, and such office shall also mention such details in the birth registration book set up in his office for that purpose by the end of each month. Every three months, the Government of Nepal shall publish a notice in the Nepal Gazette and send it to the designated ministry.
(6) The information obtained according to sub-section (5) shall be mentioned in the birth registration book established by the relevant ministry for such purpose and updated information shall be maintained every year.
