Rule 19
Demand Charge Discount

(1) No electricity supply according to Clause (f) of Section 29 of the Act: If an industry that has completed one year of operation of the industry on the basis of time wants to take the facility of demand charge discount in proportion to the time of no electricity supply, one can apply at the Bindu Seva Kendra.
(2) If any application is received according to sub-rule (1), the single point service center shall send a request to the Government of Nepal through the relevant body with a recommendation to discount the demand charge in proportion to the time when electricity is not supplied to such industry.
(3) According to sub-rule (2), when making a recommendation to the Government of Nepal, the single point service center shall also send the following details:-
(a) Connected power capacity of industry,
(b) status of electricity tariff arrears of the industry, (c) details regarding the time of non-electricity supply given by the electricity supply agency.
(4) According to sub-rule (2), if a request with a recommendation for exemption of demand charge is received, the concerned body shall submit it to the Government of Nepal for exemption of demand charge.
(5) According to sub-rule (4), the Government of Nepal may exempt the demand charge levied on the electricity tariff paid by the industry after submission from the concerned body for exemption of demand charge.
(6) According to sub-rule (5): The one point service center shall inform the concerned industries about the exemption of demand charges from the Government of Nepal.
