Section 17
Penalty Punishment

(1) According to this Act, a person or an organized organization who allows a vessel to be transported without a certificate and logbook shall be charged Rs. 8,000÷- will be fined.
(2) According to this Act, if any Nepalese ship without a logbook is taken on a sea voyage or if a ship whose certificates have expired are employed for navigation, the person or organization who embarks or employs such a sea voyage shall be charged Rs. 1500÷- will be fined.
(3) In the following cases the Master (Chief Officer) of a vessel shall be paid Rs. 1000.- will be fined.
(a) If no documents required to be kept in accordance with this Act are kept on board the ship.
(b) If the diaries are not kept properly.
(c) Failure to submit the ship's certificate and logbooks as required by the authorized officer.
(d) If the certificates and logs of the deregistered ships are not filed in the Nepal Shipping Office, or (e) If the daily newspapers that have been completely used are not kept on board the vessel by the time specified in sub-section (2) of section 16.
(4) Sailors who do not take action as per this Act shall be fined Rs. 500.- will be fined.
