Section 21
Punishment

(1) If a foreigner claims to be a Nepali citizen and obtains Nepali citizenship by giving false information, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of one to five years or a fine of fifty thousand to one lakh rupees or both. If a person is punished in accordance with this sub-section for obtaining citizenship by giving false information, the citizenship thus obtained shall be automatically revoked. A fine up to fifty thousand rupees or both will be punished.
(3) If someone creates a false or forged certificate of Nepali citizenship or makes it into circulation, the person who commits such an act will be punished with imprisonment for one to five years or a fine of twenty thousand to one lakh rupees or both.
(3a) If a self-declaration made under sub-section (7) of section 3 or clause (c) of sub-section (3) of section 5 is false, the person making such false self-declaration shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of six months to one year or with a fine of fifty thousand rupees to one lakh rupees or with both. In case of punishment according to this sub-section for obtaining citizenship by false self-declaration, the citizenship thus obtained shall be automatically revoked.
(3B) Any person giving false information under Section 7A. In case of taking residential Nepali citizenship illegally, imprisonment from three months to one year or fine from 25 thousand to 50 thousand rupees will be imposed. If a person is punished according to this sub-section for obtaining non-resident Nepali citizenship by giving false information, the non-resident Nepali citizenship obtained in that way will automatically be cancelled.
(3c) If the self-declaration made in accordance with Clause (A1) of Sub-Section (1) of Section 8 is found to be false, the person making such false self-declaration shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of one to three years or a fine of one lakh to three lakh rupees or both. If you are punished according to this sub-section for obtaining citizenship by false self-declaration, the citizenship obtained in that way will automatically be revoked.
(3d) Imprisonment for up to three months if a person fails to appear within the time limit issued in accordance with sub-section (EIC) of section 8 without reasonable cause.Or fine up to 1000 rupees or both will be punished.
(4) If someone adds or corrects the information in the certificate of complete citizenship, the person who commits such an act, the person who causes it, will be punished with imprisonment for up to three months or a fine of up to ten thousand rupees or both.

(5) Giving false information according to section 12 If the certificate of citizenship is obtained or the information corrected in accordance with Section 17 is proved to be false, the person who gives such false information or causes the violation of this Act or the rules made under this Act to commit any other offense shall be fined up to fifteen thousand rupees.

(6) Nepali If the officer issuing the certificate of citizenship knowingly or maliciously issues the certificate of citizenship in a manner contrary to this Act or the rules made under this Act, or corrects the details of the certificate of citizenship, such officer or employee shall be subject to departmental action according to the prevailing law.

(7) A person who commits or assists in the commission of an offense punishable under sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) shall be punished with half of the punishment prescribed in the same sub-section.
