: (1) If a candidate wishes to withdraw his name from the list of candidates, he may withdraw his name by giving a written notice to the election officer within the time specified for withdrawal of name as per sub-section (2) of section 6.
(2) In accordance with sub-section (1), the candidate himself or his representative shall file the notice of withdrawal of name.
(3) After the notice of withdrawal of name as per sub-section (1) has been filed with the election officer, such notice cannot be canceled or withdrawn.
(4) In order to provide a formal letter of nomination of a candidate on behalf of a party, the official appointed according to sub-section (1) of section 17 may withdraw the name of any candidate nominated by such party and send it in writing to the election officer within the time specified under sub-section (2) of section 6.< br> (5) If the election officer is satisfied about the information filed under sub-section (1), (2) or (4), the name of such candidate shall be removed from the list of candidates. The Election Officer shall immediately publish the notice of name removal in his office.
