Section 9
Issuance of Identity Card
(1) The application received under section 7 and the application of the person recommended for providing identity card under section 8 shall be sent by the local authority to the department for the purpose of record keeping and processing.
(2) After maintaining the records of the details received as per sub-section (1), the Director General shall issue a national identity card based on smart card technology with biological details, electronic chips and security. (3) The following details of the relevant person shall be mentioned in the visible part of the identity card:- (a) name, surname, (b) date of birth, (c) gender, (d) nationality, (e) ID number, (f) photograph, (g) ) date of issue of identity card and issuing authority, (h) permanent address, (h) type of citizenship and citizenship number (in case of a person who has a certificate of citizenship).
(4) An identity card will be granted to a person who has Nepali citizenship who applies for an identity card, and to a person who has not received citizenship but is eligible to receive Nepali citizenship, an identity card will be provided based on the prescribed evidence.
(5) The details to be attached for the minor national identity card, the format of the identity card and other procedures shall be as prescribed.
