Section 2
Definition
In this Act, unless the context or context requires otherwise,–
(a) "Court" shall mean the Supreme Court, High Court or District Court and the term shall also refer to any other court, judicial body or authority authorized to try, hear and dispose of any particular civil case.
(b) "Law" means the law in force for the time being.
(c) "Darpeeth" shall mean an order made by the concerned officer on a document which cannot be registered according to the law, stating the basis and reason for non-registration and signing the document, any other part or a separate paper.
(d) "Civil case" means a case related to legal rights, obligations, status, position, family relationship or property other than those defined as criminal cases under the law and the term refers to the following matters and related cases as well:-
(1) Relation or Divorce,
(2) Fees, wages, salaries, allowances or wages,
(3) Ansh, aputali, donation box, guardian, Mathwar, matriarchal and paternal authority, adopted son or adopted daughter,
(4) any right or claim under any contract, quasi-contract or unjust enrichment,
(5) Rights or claims relating to fraud, quasi-fraud or defective production,
(6) Facilitation,
(7) Indemnification,
(8) Any other matter of a civil nature (e) "Judge" shall mean the officer of the court who deals, hears and disposes of the case. (f) "Appeal letter" shall mean a petition made to the higher court with its opinion for correcting the decision of the lower court.
(g) "Reply" means written answer submitted to the court by accepting or denying the claim of the petition and the word also refers to the statement similar to the reply.
(h) "Counterclaim" means the claim made by the defendant on the claim made by the defendant.
(i) “Respondent” means the person filing the replyA person should be understood and that word refers to a person who makes a statement as a defendant or a person who has been appointed as a defendant by the court.
