Section 2
Definition
In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Telecommunication" means a sound, sign, signal, writing, figure, secret signal or message of any kind, whether or not such sound, sign, signal has been rearranged, calculated or otherwise altered for the purpose of emission, transmission or reception; It means the act of emitting, transmitting or receiving writing, figure or secret signal or news, by electronic means, wire, radio, light (optical) or other electromagnetic system.
(b) "Telecommunication line" means any wire, cable, equipment, tower, pole, antenna, tunnel, hole, pit, pole or other structure or object used or to be used in connection with a telecommunication system.
(c) "Telecommunication system" means a device or group of devices used or to be used in connection with a telecommunication system.
(d) "telecommunication service" means any sound, sign, signal, writing, figure, secret signal or message, whether or not such sound, sign, signal, writing has been rearranged, calculated or otherwise altered in any way for the purpose of emission, transmission or reception; Means the service related to the exchange of figures or secret signals or news, by wire, radio, light or other electromagnetic system.
(e) "Authority" means the Nepal Telecommunication Authority established under section 3.
(f) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Authority.
(g) "Member" means a member of the Authority and the term also refers to the Chairman.
(h) "License" means a license granted to operate telecommunication services in accordance with section 24.
(i) "licensed person" means a person who has received a license to operate telecommunication services in accordance with section 24.
(j) "Customer" means a person receiving telecommunication services provided by a licensee.
(k) "Fee" means the fee charged from the customer for providing telecommunication services in accordance with this Act.
(l) "Person" also refers to an organized organization established in accordance with prevailing laws.
(d) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means as prescribed or prescribed in the rules or regulations made under this Act.
