In this Act, unless the subject or context requires otherwise,-
(a) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Commission.
(b) "Commission" means the National Human Rights Commission established under Article 248 of the Constitution.
(c) "Complaint" shall mean an application or complaint filed before the Commission regarding the violation of human rights or its aggravation and the term also refers to the information received by the Commission on the matter from any other source.
(d) "Employee" means an employee of the Commission (e) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(f) "Human rights" means the rights provided by the constitution and other applicable laws related to the life, liberty, equality and dignity of an individual and the term also refers to the rights contained in the international human rights treaties to which Nepal is a party.
(g) "Secretary" means the Secretary of the Commission (h) "Member" means a member of the Commission and the term also includes the Chairman.
(i) "Constitution" means the Constitution of Nepal.
