In this Act, unless the subject or the context requires otherwise,–
(a) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Commission and the term also includes the Acting Chairman.
(b) "Commission" means the National Inclusion Commission as per Article 258 of the Constitution.
(c) "Karnali" means the erstwhile Karnali zone.
(d) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(e) "Backward Area" means the area defined by the Government of Nepal on the recommendation of the Commission.
(f) "Member" means a member of the Commission and the term also refers to the Chairman.
(g) "Constitution" means the Constitution of Nepal.
