In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Land owner" means a person who has land registered in his name or who has acquired his right to that land and who has to submit the property to the Government of Nepal.
(b) "Farmer" means a farmer who is registered in the government registry as a farmer who cultivates uncultivated land or who has cultivated uncultivated land according to the agreement with the land owner. But this term will not refer to the person who plows the land earned in hunda, mankhap, adhiyan, bataya.
(c) "Pot" means the amount of money to be paid by the farmer to the land owner for letting him earn land.
(d) "Ukhada Jagga" means the land earned by the farmer by paying cash to the land owner according to the agreement with the land owner.
(e) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules under this Act.
