In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Mineral substance" means inorganic (inorganic) substance with certain physical properties and chemical composition of elements except petroleum and gas found on the ground surface or underground.

(b) "exploration" means mining or All types of investigations and feasibility studies to find minerals or to determine the type, quality, quantity, etc. of minerals should be remembered.
(c) "Mining" means mining, production, purification, processing, transportation, storage or sale and distribution of minerals.
(d) "Mineral work" shall mean prospecting and mining.
(e) "permitted person" shall mean a person who has been granted permission to carry out mineral operations in accordance with section 5.
(f) "Mineral Area" shall mean the area specified in the permit to carry out mineral operations.
(g) "Department" means the Department of Mines and Geology of the Government of Nepal (h) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
