Unless the subject or context requires otherwise, in these regulations,-

(a) 'Act' shall mean the Motion Picture (Production, Exhibition and Distribution) Act, 2026.
(b) 'Motion picture' means a moving picture made in any technology.
(c) 'License' shall mean a license granted to manufacture, distribute and exhibit films or to build and operate a film house in accordance with Section 3 or 4 of the Act. The person or organization that has obtained the license should be considered.

(e) 'Film production' should mean the work of making a film for the purpose of showing the film in public.
(f) 'Producer' means a person licensed to produce films.
(g) 'Distribution' means the act of selling or renting movies.
(h) 'Distributor' means a person licensed to distribute films.
(h) 'Exhibition' means the act of showing a film.
(j) 'Exhibitor' means a person licensed to exhibit films.

(l) 'Contact Officer' shall mean a civil servant assigned by the Ministry to go to the producer to supervise whether the film has been screened in accordance with this regulation.
(d) 'Ministry' shall mean Government of Nepal, Ministry of Information and Communication.
(d) 'Board' shall mean the Film Development Board constituted as per Rule 21.
(n) 'Chairman' shall mean the Chairman of the Board.
(p) 'Member' means a member of the Board and the word also refers to the Chairman and Member-Secretary.
(h) 'Member-Secretary' means the Member-Secretary of the Board.
