In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Torture" means physical or mental torture inflicted on a detainee in the course of investigation, investigation or trial or in any other manner and the term also refers to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment done to him.
(b) "Aggrieved person" means a person who is subjected to torture.
