In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Broadcasting" means a radio communication service transmitted in such a way that the general public can receive information through gestures, sounds, images, pictures or other similar forms.
(b) "Programme" means any kind of program broadcast through audio or audio-visual medium.
(c) "Frequency Modulation Broadcasting System" means the broadcasting carried out by a broadcasting organization using frequency modulation broadcasting technology through a channel designated for radio or television technology.
(d) "License" means the broadcasting license granted under Section 6 for broadcasting a program or the license granted to broadcast by installing a frequency modulation broadcasting system.
(e) "Broadcasting organization" means a person or an organized organization licensed to broadcast programs in accordance with this Act.
(f) "Satellite" means an earth-satellite placed in space for receiving or transmitting various broadcast materials.
(g) "Cable" means the technique of conveying broadcast materials through wires from a certain transmission center to different customers, subscribers or consumers.
(h) "Geo-satellite broadcasting center (earth station)" means a center (station) to be established on the earth's surface to exchange broadcast programs through satellite.
(i) "Broadcaster" shall mean a person who recites a program broadcast by a broadcasting organization and the term shall also refer to a person who prepares and edits such a program.
(j) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
