Section 3
Establishment of the Council
: (1) The National Sports Council has been established for the development, expansion, promotion and study, research and management of sports.
(2) The council under sub-section (1) shall have the following chairman, vice-chairman and members:-
(a) Minister of Youth and Sports of the Government of Nepal or Minister of State - Chairman
(b) One person nominated by the Government of Nepal from among the people who have made a special contribution in the field of sports - Vice President
(c) Secretary to the Ministry - Member
(d) The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Government of Nepal or the Joint Secretary of the same Ministry appointed by him - Member
(e) Chief - Member to see Nepali Army sports field (f) Head of Sports Sector of Nepal Police - Member
(g) Armed Police Force, Head of Sports Sector of Nepal - Member
(h) One member nominated by the President from amongst the Heads of Sports Departments of Universities (i) Head of Sports Division of the Ministry - Member
(h) Executive head of provincial level institutional structures related to sports development of each province - member
(k) Distinguished people who have contributed significantly to the development of sports, national and international ex-athletes, representing women, Dalits, tribal tribes, Khasarya, Madhesi, Tharu, Muslims, and backward areas including at least three women nominated by the Government of Nepal. Nine members, but when nominated according to this section, at least fifty percent of the members should be from national and international ex-players.
(l) Two members including at least one woman nominated by the President from among sports experts, sports coaches, sports technicians or anti-doping experts - members
(D) Two members nominated by the President on the recommendation of the relevant committee to be represented from among the Olympic Committee recognized by the International Olympic Committee, including Nepal Olympics, Para Olympics, etc. (d) Articles of the relevant National Sports AssociationFive members, including at least two women, nominated by the president on the recommendation of the concerned association from among the officers or members of the association elected in accordance with the law (n) One member nominated by the President on the recommendation of the Federation of Commerce and Industry (p) One member nominated by the chairman to represent the traditional, adventure and tourism sports sector (th) Member-Secretary of the Council - Member-Secretary
(3) When nominating the members as per sub-section (2), it should be done in such a way that the geographical area and women, Dalits, tribal tribes, Khasarya, Madhesi, Tharu, Muslim and backward areas are also represented.
