Rule 21
Immunity arrangements
(1) According to sub-section (2) of section 81 of the Act, the accused who has been prosecuted for any offense may apply to the defense branch of the court of appeals for the appointment of a police officer for his defense. If such a request is received, the Prad Viwak will have to make arrangements for the Prad officer to defend the accused.
(2) The Prad officer assigned as per sub-rule (1) shall appear in the military court and shall act on behalf of the accused including pleading his defense.
(3) The Prad Officer defending on behalf of the accused shall not present any evidence against or against the accused before the military court. He shall not be compelled to raise questions in the military court about the things that happened between the accused and the prad officer defending him and to reveal such things before the military court.
(4) The president and members of the military court should not influence the defense officer of the accused in any way to have a negative impact and should not make any negative comment on him regarding any matter raised by him in the course of defense.
