Rule 33
Suspension of Certificate
(1) The certifying body may suspend the certificate issued by it in the following cases:-
(a) If it appears to the certifying body that such digital signature has been used or is about to be used for any illegal purpose or for achieving an illegal purpose,
(b) on receipt of information that any criminal case is pending against the customer in any court,
(c) If the controller sends a written notice to the certifying body to suspend the certificate stating that the use of the certificate has been or is about to be or is likely to be done against the public interest.
(2) When suspending a certificate in accordance with Clause (b) and Sub-rule (1) of Section 32 of the Act, the certifying body shall request an explanation by giving a period of three days to submit a written explanation to the concerned client stating the reason for the suspension.
(3) If the explanation submitted according to sub-rule (2) is not satisfactory or if the explanation is not submitted, the certifying body may suspend the certificate issued by it.
(4) According to sub-rule (3), the period of suspension of the certificate shall not exceed fifteen days.
