Rule 21
Certifying body can stop work
A certifying body can stop work related to certification by completing the following procedure:-
(a) by notifying the Controller in writing at least ninety days before the date on which he intends to discontinue the certification work or the date of expiry of the license of the certifying body,
(b) After giving the notice as per Clause (a) at least sixty days before the date of desired closure of the work by publishing a public notice of the matter in a national level daily newspaper,
(c) by notifying all customers of its operations and other certifying bodies with whom it has mutually arranged digital signature verification arrangements at least sixty days prior to the termination of its intention to cease operations,
(d) by sending the notices as per clauses (a), (b) and (c) by registered email or post with digital signature,
(e) by canceling all digital signature certificates issued by you, whether or not requested by any customer within the date specified by you to cease operations,
(f) by arranging for shutdowns to minimize inconvenience to customers,
(g) By arranging to keep the documents and records related to the work done by you, the digital signature certificate issued, etc. for seven years from the date of cessation of work,
(h) By arranging to compensate the customers of digital signature certificates issued by us for a fixed period of time after the date of cessation of work, an amount equal to the fee required to obtain a new certificate,
(i) After the validity period of the client's certificate has expired, the certifying body shall destroy the private key and inform the controller of the time and date of such destruction.
