Section 39
Functions, Duties and Powers of Probation and Parole Board
(1) In addition to the duties, duties and powers mentioned elsewhere in this Act, the duties and powers of the Federal Probation and Parole Board shall be as follows:-
(a) Probation and parole related policies and recommendations to the Government of Nepal (b) Develop criteria for placing prisoners on probation and parole,
(c) determining the conditions to be followed by offenders on probation and parole,
(d) Supervising, controlling and directing the work of the State Probation and Parole Board as required,
(e) To prepare a list of persons who may be appointed or designated as probation officers or parole officers necessary to recommend the execution of sentences and assist offenders in their rehabilitation in accordance with this Act,
(f) To do other necessary things related to probation and parole.
(2) The Probation and Parole Board shall itself determine the procedure necessary for the conduct of its work.
(3) The Probation and Parole Board may form sub-committees as needed to assist in its work.
(4) The sub-committee established in accordance with sub-section (3) shall have terms of reference, procedures and other necessary matters as prescribed by the Probation and Parole Board.
(5) The work, duties and powers of the Provincial Probation and Parole Board shall be as prescribed.
