Section 48
Punishment for obtaining more postage stamps and forgery of government marks
: If an employee of a post office commits any of the following offences, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or with a fine not exceeding ten thousand rupees or with both.
(a) fraudulently affixes a false official mark to a postal item, or
(b) fraudulently altering or removing or erasing the Government mark affixed to the postal item, or
(c) In the case of being entrusted with the task of delivering postal items, if any amount of postal stamps not paid in accordance with this Act is requested or received for that item.
