Rule 21
Accommodation for Children
The Children's Correctional Home shall provide accommodation to the children based on gender, age, status of court proceedings and psychosocial counseling as follows:-
(a) Arrangements should be made to keep boys and girls in separate buildings, if not possible, on separate floors, and if not possible, in separate rooms with plenty of space between them,
(b) Children in pre-trial proceedings and children in the stage of execution after the case has been decided, in a separate room for those below fourteen years of age according to age group, in separate rooms according to age for fourteen to seventeen years of age, in the case of those who have reached the age of eighteen years, sub-section (4) of Section 43 of the Act According to ), arrangements should be made to keep them in a separate building or floor so that they are separated from other children,
(c) Arrangements should be made to keep the children in the pre-trial phase and the children in the execution stage after the case has been decided, in separate floors or cells,
(d) Arrangements should be made to keep children with special care needs in a separate room on the recommendation of the child psychosocial consultant or/social worker.
