Rule 37
Return of Insured Goods
The Post concerned shall return the insured goods to the sender in the following cases:-
(a) if delivery is not taken by the addressee within 10 days from the date of notification of arrival of the insured goods, or
(b) if the addressee refuses to take delivery of the insured goods or if the addressee does not appear to take delivery or if the addressee dies and delivery cannot take place, or
(c) If the addressee leaves the previous place of residence or moves to another place or moves to the jurisdiction of the post office that does not have the authority to deliver the insurance item, within 10 days of the move, if the post office tries to deliver the insurance item to the addressee or his authorized heirs, the addressee cannot be found. However, if the addressee of the insured item is out of the delivery area of the post office at the time the insured item arrives at the post office and he finds out that the insured item has arrived in his name at the post office or by any other means, he must give written notice of his desire to take delivery of the insured item to the post office within 10 days mentioned in clause (c). If given, the insured item will be kept in that post office for another 15 days. If the addressee or his authorized heir does not take delivery within that period, the insurance item will be sent back to the sender after the 15 days of payment.
