Section 6
Functions, Duties and Powers of the Board

The functions, duties and powers of the Board shall be as follows –
(a) Formulate necessary policies for the promotion and development of cooperative organizations through cooperation at the national level and recommend to the Government of Nepal for their implementation.
(B) To provide necessary support to the Government of Nepal for the formulation of policies related to cooperative development and the formulation of related development plans and to implement those policies.
(c) Conducting necessary studies and research related to cooperative development.
(d) Establishing a cooperative development fund for the purpose of providing loans or grants to the cooperative organizations in an easy way and providing the necessary capital to the cooperative organizations for carrying out developmental work from that fund.
(e) To invest in shares of cooperative societies or cooperative banks.
(f) Co-operative organizations will provide surety as needed when taking loans from local banks or other agencies or seeking the assistance of the board while issuing bonds.
(G) Providing technical assistance to arrange the necessary arrangements related to the development of cooperative associations-organizations and to promote and protect cooperative associations-organizations.
(h) Establish harmony between various agencies of the Government of Nepal, cooperative associations and non-governmental organizations and provide coordinated support to encourage such organizations more in business-oriented programs.
(j) To enter into an agreement with domestic and foreign investors' associations, companies and corporations and the Government of Nepal for joint investment for industrial development in the cooperative sector.
(j) To do other necessary work related to cooperative development.
