Care and maintenance of the rented item:

(1) The status of the item hired under the hire purchase agreement shall be the same as that of the item until the ownership is transferred in accordance with section 628.
(2) Except as otherwise provided in the hire purchase agreement, the hirer shall take reasonable care and maintain the goods related to such contract as if they are owned by him.
(3) In case of such loss or damage due to non-care and maintenance as per sub-section (2), the lessee shall be responsible for it.
