Section 68A
Power to hear the case
: (1) The Regional Director concerned shall have the power to process and dispose of cases related to offenses punishable under Sections 43, 44, 45, 47A, 51, 52, 53, 55, 56, 57, 59, 60 and 61A. .
(2) The officer hearing the case under sub-section (1) shall have the same rights as the district court.
(3) According to sub-section (1) the decision made by the Regional Director shall be appealed to the concerned High Court.
(4) When the district court is dealing with a case related to postal crime filed before it, if it is found that the accused has committed any offense related to the sections mentioned in sub-section (1), the district court may also take action and set aside the case related to such offense.
(5) In the case of the investigation of postal crimes, if more than one offense is committed by the same person or if different persons commit separate offenses in relation to the same postal item, the right to look into the case related to such offense falls under the jurisdiction of the regional director. The delivery will be to the regional director of the area where the post office is located.
(6) The right to hear the case related to any offense committed by the same person or the various offenses committed by different persons in relation to the same postal item is within the jurisdiction of the Regional Director and if the right to hear the case related to any offense is within the jurisdiction of the District Court, the right to hear the case related to such offenses Such postal items will be delivered to the district court of the district.
