: (1)Nepal………. Before selling and distributing the iodized salt produced or imported, the producer or importer or distributor must submit an application to the committee along with the prescribed form for approval of the label of such salt.
(2) Before the commencement of this Act, the producer or importer or distributor of iodized salt produced or imported into Nepal………….. shall have the label approved by the Committee within six months from the date of commencement of this Act.
(3) When the manufacturer, importer or distributor prepares the label, it should be prepared in a way that gives necessary information and encouragement regarding the useful use of iodized salt.
(4) The following information and message that can be clearly and easily understood on the label should be printed in Nepali and as necessary in English language so as not to be erased:-
(a) Logo of Bamoji if approved by the Committee,
(b) the full name and address of the person or organization producing and packing,
(c) Specific gravity of packaged iodized salt,
(d) Year and month of packaging,
(e) Iodine content (in ppm),
(f) the measures and techniques to be adopted to prevent the iodine mixed in iodized salt from destroying, flying and disappearing,
(g) Last date of retention of quality in iodized salt,
(h) Other details as specified.
