Section 49
Loans and Reloans to Commercial Banks and Financial Institutions
(1) The bank may grant loans and re-loans to commercial banks and financial institutions subject to the conditions and procedures determined by it for a maximum period of one year under the security of the following assets:- (a) as mentioned in clause (e) of sub-section (1) of section 66 International negotiable instruments, (b) Bonds issued by the Government of Nepal to be paid within Nepal ……….., (c) Deposits in banks or gold and precious metals that can be transacted by banks under this Act, (3) Section 48 Bills of exchange or promissory notes as per sub-section (1), and (e) other securities as specified. (2) ... Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), if the Government of Nepal requests the bank to provide credit for the benefit and welfare of the general public and such If the government of Nepal guarantees the guarantee of the current market rate of the loan or if the bank has to act as the last lender, the bank can provide any type of loan to commercial banks and financial institutions for a maximum period of one year.
