(1) There shall be a financial information unit in the Rashtra Bank as a functionally autonomous and independent unit to receive reports and other information related to suspicious transactions related to money laundering, financial investment in terrorist activities and related offenses, to analyze them and to transmit the results of the analysis. 2) The head of the Financial Information Unit will be appointed by the Governor of the National Bank from among at least the first class officers of the National Bank. (3) The office of the Financial Information Unit will be located in the National Bank and the staff required for that office will be arranged by the National Bank. (4) If requested by the Financial Information Unit, the Government of Nepal. or any public organization may provide its staff to work in the financial information unit. (5) The National Bank shall provide a separate budget to the financial information unit. Conditions and arrangements for providing other means and resources will be as mentioned in the regulations of the National Bank.
