Section 5
The language of oaths
(1) When taking oath or making an oath, it should be taken or administered in the Nepali language of official affairs.
(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), a person holding public office may take oath in his mother tongue spoken in Nepal. If the oath is taken in the native language, the procedure of the oath mentioned in the schedule shall be translated into the native language and such translation shall be verified by himself; Before taking the oath before the swearing-in officer, submit:
(3) A person holding a public office shall submit two replicas of the oath in Nepali language, and two copies of the oath in the mother tongue, in case the person has taken the oath in the mother tongue, and submit it to the official who administers the oath.
