According to this Act, any person who commits any of the following acts in relation to any ancient monument or any archaeological object which is in the possession of the Government of Nepal or has a document of responsibility in accordance with section 5 shall be punished as follows:
(a) Any If an ancient monument is destroyed, destroyed, removed, altered, mutilated or stolen, a fine of twenty five thousand to one hundred thousand rupees, or imprisonment for five to fifteen years, or both shall be imposed on such ancient monument, with the amount charged according to the amount of the ancient monument. b) If an ancient monument is used in unauthorized work or if any other way causes damage, the amount of such ancient monument will be charged and fined up to twenty five thousand rupees or imprisonment up to five years or both.
