18.1 If a person does the things regulated, controlled or prohibited by the committee under section 9 without the prior approval of the committee, or if the committee has prescribed any conditions or criteria while giving approval, if such person does it in a way that is contrary to such conditions or criteria, the committee shall punish such person with an offence. Depending on the seriousness and status of the accused, a fine up to one lakh rupees or imprisonment up to one year or both can be imposed. 18.2 If anyone obstructs the work done or about to be done by the committee in accordance with this Act or the regulations made under this Act, the committee may punish such person with a fine up to twenty five thousand rupees or imprisonment for up to 6 months or both. 18.3 If anyone takes any action contrary to the order or instructions given by the committee in accordance with this Act or the regulations made under this Act, the committee may fine such person up to five thousand rupees. 18.4 If any person commits any action contrary to this Act or the regulations made under this Act, the committee may fine such person up to five thousand rupees. 18.5 In accordance with sub-section 18.1 or 18.2, when the committee imposes a sentence of imprisonment, it shall be executed only after the applicant has been submitted to the appeal committee of section 20 and approved.
