Section 55
Punishment
: (1) If anyone commits any act contrary to sub-section (1) of section 5, such person shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of one month to three months or with a fine of three thousand rupees to ten thousand rupees or with both.
(2) If anyone commits any act contrary to section 53, such person shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of three months to nine months or a fine of thirty thousand rupees to ninety thousand rupees or both.
(3) If anyone commits any act contrary to Section 54, the person who begs or causes to beg for alms shall be punished fifty percent more than the punishment according to the prevailing law.
(4) A person who encourages, abets or assists in the commission of an offense under sub-section (2) shall be punished with half of the punishment imposed on the principal offender.
(5) If a person who has been punished under sub-section (2) and (4) commits such act again, twenty-five percent of the punishment imposed under that sub-section will also be an additional punishment.
(6) If a person violates the rights of a person with a disability provided under this Act or fails to fulfill his obligations towards him, such person shall be fined up to fifty thousand rupees.
(7) Apart from what is written in the above sub-sections, the person or the head of any institution or agency who acts contrary to this Act shall be fined up to fifty thousand rupees.
