Section 16
Operator Qualification
(1) The qualifications of a person to be appointed as a director shall be as follows:- (a) Having worked for at least five years as a director or officer of a foreign or domestic bank or financial institution or an organized organization in a related field or at the official level of the Government of Nepal, or (b) having obtained a bachelor's degree and having worked for at least three years as a director or officer of a foreign or domestic bank or financial institution or an organized organization in a related field or at least at the official level of the Government of Nepal, or (c) having obtained a master's degree in a related subject as specified. (2) In sub-section (1). Regardless of what is written, the educational qualifications and experience of directors of 'D' class financial institutions shall be as prescribed by the National Bank from time to time. However, the qualifications of independent directors shall be as per section 17.
