Rule 4
Vehicle registration

(1) When registering a vehicle required to be registered in accordance with Section 14 of the Act, in addition to the documents mentioned in Section 15 of the Act, an application shall be submitted in the format specified in Schedule-4 to the office in which the vehicle is to be registered along with the following documents and the fee as per Schedule-3:-
(a) A copy of the registration certificate if the vehicle registered abroad has been imported (b) Registration of entry as per rule 3 complete nissa,
(c) If the owner of the vehicle is not present himself and sends someone else, on his authority.
(2) If an application is received according to sub-rule (1), the office shall, after conducting the necessary investigation regarding such an application, subject to the Act and other provisions mentioned in this regulation, register the vehicle in the vehicle registration book as per schedule-5 kept in the office and give a certificate of registration to the applicant.
(3) The office will give a number plate indication with letters and numbers as mentioned in Schedule-6 to the owner of the vehicle registered as per sub-rule (2). The owner of the vehicle should keep such number plate, sign in a manner that can be clearly seen on the related vehicle.
(4) The number plate as per sub-rule (3) should be embossed. Explanation: For the purpose of sub-rule (4), 'Embossed' means 'writing on a metal plate by electrical and mechanical means in such a way that letters and numbers are raised. 4a. Fees to be charged when installing embossed number plates on vehicles as per sub-rule (4) Schedule-6A. It will be as mentioned in
(5) Regardless of what is written in sub-rule (4), number plate signs as specified by the Government of Nepal will be provided until the necessary infrastructure is arranged for number plate embossing.
