(1) The customs officer may inquire about the source and intended use of the currency or bearer negotiable instrument intended to be taken abroad from Nepal or brought from abroad to Nepal in the following cases:-(a) If he suspects that the currency or bearer negotiable instrument has been wrongly declared or not declared, or b) If there is reasonable ground to suspect that it is related to any related offense. (2) If it is proved that such currency or holder has not declared the negotiable instrument of exchange or has falsely or wrongly declared it or is related to any offense during the inquiry according to sub-section (1), the customs officer shall remove all currency or holder. The negotiable certificate will be confiscated and fined as per below. (3) When confiscating under sub-section (2), the customs officer shall give the relevant person the information along with the reason thereof.
