Rule 7
Provisions related to maintaining discipline

(1) To maintain discipline in the Nepali Army, the military police may do the following:-
(a) To detect possible places where illegal activities are taking place with the involvement of Nepali Army personnel and to control illegal activities through foot and mobile patrols in such places,
(b) To keep necessary surveillance on the suspected persons of the Nepali Army,
(c) checking the clock out, leave certificate, identity card, turn out of military personnel outside the barracks,
(d) Checking vehicles, persons or goods entering and leaving the military area,
(e) Arrest military personnel who violate military law, act indiscipline, harm the image of the Nepali Army or violate the confidentiality of the army by the order of the departmental head of the executive department,
(f) If there is any suspicion of illegal drug trafficking, military arms or goods trafficking, embezzlement of secret information and documents of the army and any action against the prevailing law, they will be searched and seized according to the prevailing law.
(2) When arresting under clause (e) of sub-rule (1), the person of the Nepali Army to be arrested must be given a notice including the reason for the arrest. The person of the Nepali Army who has been arrested in this way must be brought before the officer within twenty-four hours from the place of arrest, except for the period of the journey from the place of arrest.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in clause (e) of sub-rule (1) and sub-rule (2), in the case of committing a crime or about to commit a crime, the departmental head of the working department shall report to the general rank of the army, the military police officer to the officer above him, the rank and file chief of the military police The military police up to subedar and other ranks of the military police can arrest military personnel up to the rank of staff.
