(1) If the validity period of the passport of a Nepalese passport holder abroad expires, if the passport is lost or damaged or if it is unusable due to falsification and an application is made for a new passport, he/she shall be issued a temporary passport by the delegation until the issuance of a machine redone passport. A passport can be issued.

(2) The passport as per sub-rule (1) shall be valid for eighteen months generally from the date of issue.

(3) The structure of the temporary passport shall be as prescribed by the Ministry.

(4) When issuing a new passport to the applicant, the Commission shall cancel the temporary passport.
