Functions, Duties and Powers of the Commission

5. Work, Duties and Powers of the Commission

(1) In addition to the work, duties and powers written elsewhere in the prevailing law and this order, the work, duties and powers of the Commission shall be as follows:-
(a) Studying the possibilities and opportunities of national development and formulating, monitoring and evaluating short-term, medium-term and long-term national plans,
(b) Building and developing appropriate structures and mechanisms for formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of national plans,
(c) formulation, monitoring and evaluation of sectoral policies for the overall economic and social development of the nation,
(d) Formulate plans and policies to increase access to the overall development process of the nation and its benefits to the common citizens from the point of view of social justice, subject to the directive principles and policies of the state according to the constitution,
(e) Collecting and processing data about the overall aspects of economic and social development, studying, researching or communicating them,
(f) Assessing and mobilizing resources and tools needed for economic development (g) To give suggestions to the Government of Nepal regarding the policy to be adopted for the overall development of the nation (h) Formulating policies and strategies for regional and local development for the balanced development of the country (h) Formulating a poverty alleviation strategy and conducting a program to end absolute poverty in the country within a certain period,
(j) To review the implementation and results of various development projects,
(k) Establishing annual development programs, goals and priorities according to periodic plans (l) Determining the budget limit for the annual development program in coordination with the Ministry of Finance (D) To give consent for the approval of plans prepared by regional ministries, secretariats, departments and agencies and to assist in the formulation of regional policies and give suggestions and instructions for implementation,
(d) Assessing and approving proposals for development projects submitted by various agencies,
(n) To give instructions to the relevant agencies to implement the approved program effectively (p) Making necessary policies and plans for sustainable and efficient management of natural resources (th) Formulating long-term and short-term plans for the development of human resources necessary for the nation and including them in sectoral programs or implementing them,
(D) To identify and determine national priority areas and projects (D) To do other work as prescribed in the prevailing law.
